This pandemic has really pushed us into habits we didn’t have before. We know that we never stayed in our pajamas all day long, and we certainly have never had so much access to our refrigerators. Another habit we’ve honed to a fine point is online shopping. With stores physically closed, we’ve become experts at the art of putting together an online-only outfit. We’re sharing our tips and tricks to make the most of the tools that stores have already given us.

The Wishlist

Stores like H&M and Zara with online shopping sites have a rarely used wish list function. If you are looking to do a large shop before the start of a new season, this function is for you. As you go through the store’s website, save all the pieces you like. Then, look at the wish list to see if you’ve created a coherent wardrobe. Look at this list and then think about the items you already own. You can then eliminate items that were perhaps impulsive.

Another benefit of creating a wish list is to check the total cost of all the items you want to purchase. If the total is too high, split your purchase in half now, and save the rest of the items on this list for later.

All stores have an end-of-season sale. You can take advantage of these sales by saving perennial wardrobe staple purchases for next year. Save huge on basics like trousers and blazers, and curb your spending by taking all season to think about these more expensive items.

Point Systems

We’ve all said “no” to giving our phone numbers or emails to a store at the cash register, but now that everything is online, it’s easy to create an account online instead of checking out as a Guest. Save your points to get discounts and get on the mailing lists for coupons and sales. while shopping online
